Dear Members,
In addition to our regular meeting in March the board had a special meeting on February 21 to address common ground issues. At this meeting bids were approved for sod replace on Pheasant Way where trees were lost, mulch for Pheasant Way and the playground, and dock repairs and sealing. At the time of this letter the sod has been installed. The much and dock should be completed by the middle of March.
The street signs were discussed. All of the street signs have peeling letters and need to be re-screened. We finally received a bid for the re-screening and it would cost a few hundred dollars per sign post. With the additional costs of re-screening the cost to put the street signs back in order would exceeded our insured coverage. Based on the anticipated costs to the community the board moved to contact the County to see if they will replace the signs and take over sign maintenance. This would remove the cost of maintenance and insurance from the homeowners and place it back on the County.
The board approved the grant plan as proposed by the Common Grounds Committee. The grant application is for matching funds to plant 28 hardwood trees along Pheasant Way. We will know by the end of April if we receive this grant. If we are not awarded the grant we still intend to use the plan we have developed. Pointe Management presented some ideas for raised planting beds to go along Pheasant Way between the trees. The goal being uniform planting along Pheasant way that soften the views from the road while not making people on the sidewalks feel boxed in. The Common Grounds Committee will review the ideas presented by Pointe as well as seek proposals from outside landscape firms and submit their recommendations to the board. We know that this process takes time. We feel that by taking a few extra months, developing a completed plan, and applying for grants will result in greater returns for the community in the long term.
Sincerely,
Frank Yann
