Dear Pheasant Walk Homeowner:
The board of directors has been busy listening, organizing and meeting with committees and many volunteers over the first weeks of our term.

Assuring our community’s safety and upholding the excellent property values we now enjoy are the two main priorities of your current Board.

Many homeowners have volunteered their time to work on committees and have met on a variety of issues. These volunteers are doing the leg work and research on specific topics and are making reports and recommendations for the Board’s consideration.

We are delighted that long time Pheasant Walk resident Bonnie Weldon has courageously offered to chair the Covenants Committee. Covenant enforcement is an unpopular assignment at best. No one enjoys sending letters to their neighbors to clean up their landscaping, sidewalks, roofs etc. This group is researching and discussing the best ways to carry out this task in a positive manner. Ideas for spreading out the payment of annual assessments to more than once per year are being investigated. The Board’s goal is to oversee the enforcement of the Covenants in a sensible and consistent manner.

Grounds and Landscaping Committee Chair Larry DuBois and the committee have energetically tackled a general cleanup and preparation for the hurricanes we hope will skip our neighborhood this season. Removing dead trees and trimming the canopy trees has been completed. Monthly landscape inspections are being conducted with the landscape contractor by volunteer resident Mike Cormier and will proactively address landscape and irrigation problems.

A Fence Committee has been formed due to the deluge of complaints and suggestions that the fences along Pheasant Way are unattractive and detract from the appearance of the common areas along our main boulevard. Virginia Henry is leading this committee to research and prepare alternative strategies to cure our “ugly fence” dilemma.

Under the leadership of Rich Heinica, the Park Committee is developing a long term program for the park initial clean up and ongoing future maintenance of the nature area and play area grounds.

The Playground Committee members used lots of elbow grease and free labor to restore the playground equipment thanks to Chairperson David Hager and his hardworking volunteers. Looks great, David!
A newly re- formed Welcome / Section Committee has been put into gear by Get-it-done Chairperson Joan Petraitis. Joan has lived in Pheasant Walk for more years …. uh… than we can remember. Joan has reintroduced the concept of “Section Captains” that effectively united neighbors in the early years of our community. These volunteer Captains will welcome and introduce new homeowners to the community and assist existing neighbors who may have questions or problems relating to the association.

The Security Committee Chairperson, Joe Powers is working directly with Wackenhut and Palm Beach Sheriff Department to provide improved service and protection to the community. Check out Pheasant Walk’s Channel 63 for information about services available from Wackenhut.

Street Sign Committee Chairman Gregor Schuessler has overseen the repairs and replacements for the majority of the signs requiring work. This committee is working on a long term program to economically maintain our attractive streetscape signage.

And now the best for last: Have you seen Channel 63 lately? The dull blue screen has taken on a new and vastly improved presence under the creative direction of Communication Committee Chair Gary Schroepfer. Tune in and you’ll be surprised with the great “look” and valuable information you’ll find. Things to do, things for sale… are there Emmys for HOA channels?

There are many Committees with numerous volunteers expending their personal time and energy for the benefit of our neighborhood and the value of your home. Next time you run into one of these neighbor volunteers, tell them “thanks,” or better yet, volunteer your time to help them out!

A high degree of homeowner participation in Committees and attendance at community meetings will help make certain that Pheasant Walk remains one of the greatest neighborhoods in south Palm Beach County.
See you at the meetings!

Sincerely,
Brent Hoover
