SECURITY COMMITTEE
29 JULY 2005

Four homeowners attended the security committee. Five incidents were reported this month to Wackenhut. A mailbox was vandalized, a vehicle obstructing the roadway, solicitors within the community, a suspicious vehicle, and property information concerning a tow truck damaging a swale area.

The Sheriff’s office will be conducting speed enforcement within our community. The following are February to April 2005 statistics; 12 traffic citations have been issued, and 11 traffic warnings. Some residents still have not gotten the word to slow down to 30m.p.h.and stop at the stop signs. The fire station has also complained about residents failing to yield the right of way during fire calls. Also, the recent construction on Pheasant Way is not properly marked with signs. Residents need to slow down and merge to the left upon exiting the neighborhood. Property management needs to contact the county and discuss proper markings to avoid an accident. The construction is due to the new lift station being installed.
The following topics were discussed. Several street lights are out, dock maintenance, bringing back the speed cart, vehicles blocking the sidewalk, repairing the playground equipment, no safety items being listed in the last newsletter, and placing light poles in the park/dock area.
Several FPL lights are not operable. Wackenhut has been writing the pole numbers down and forwarding them to Lt. Russell. Wackenhut area coordinator, Walter Andres will be contacted to forward this information to Point Management for action.
The planks/wood on the common dock are beginning to show some wear. The board needs to consider cleaning/replacing any damage planks/wood. The existing surface needs to be sealed. The current budget has dock maintenance as a line item. These funds need to be utilized in its intended purpose.
Wackenhut will be contacted to bring the speed cart back into the community. Several complaints have been received concerning excessive speed. The sheriff’s office detail has been continued and will address this ongoing issue.
Vehicles should not park on the sidewalks and/or block driveway sidewalk access. F.S.S 316.1945(1)(a)2 addresses this topic. For further information, check www. myflorida.com.
The playground equipment needs to be replaced due to wear and prior acts of vandalism. The current budget also has a line item to purchase new equipment.
No safety items appeared in the last newsletter. Our children will be beginning another school year on 10 August. Finally, the adding lights to the park and dock. A solar powered light system will cost around $1,000. FPL will be contacted to for a quote on placing an additional light in the park and dock.
