Well, March will surely be here before we know it and it's time to fertilize, for Spring. Since we are only watering once a week some folks are asking,"When do I fertilize."
The answer: If the forecast is predicting rain, you may want to take advantage of the extra water and fertilize before hand. Don't be heavy handed with the fertilizer, you don't want to burn anything. Forecasts have been known to miss a target date with rain, so just go easy on the fertilizer.
Remember, the first number on the bag of fertilizer represents Nitrogen and 15 and under is plenty for S. FL. Don't pay for a higher concentration, it isn't necessary. 10, and 12 are just as good. Remember to look for a time released fertilizer and one that contains micro-nutrients.Happy Gardening
